More than a decade has passed since Friends left our television screens but weโre still fiercely protective of Ross and Rachelโs relationship.
So much so, that weโll never recover from the one where Rachel kisses Joey โ leaving Ross, well, most certainly not โfineโ.
Thankfully, it turns out that Jennifer Aniston and Matt LeBlanc were equally disapproving of the surprising storyline.

According to Dr Simone Knox, who co-authored a book on the cult โ90s series, LeBlanc raised concerns over the controversial romance with producers.
Knox learned of the actorโs disapproval of the storyline during a conversation with executive producer Kevin S. Bright.
โHe [Bright] told us when they first started floating the idea of a storyline involving Joey developing feelings for Rachel that Matt LeBlanc was very uncomfortable with this,โ she told the Daily Express.
โHe said these actors were so invested in their characterisations, and Matt LeBlancโs objection was: โJoey wouldnโt do that.'โ

โJoey is many things: Heโs a womaniser; he is into his food; but heโs also a very loyal friend,โ Knox continued.
โSo Joey would never go for Rachel because that would be devastating for Ross. But in this case they went for it because, I guess, they thought they would get some interesting storylines.โ
But LeBlanc wasnโt the only member of the famous cast who disapproved of the blossoming relationship, as Aniston also made sure to voice her opinions.
Author of โIโll Be There For You: The One About Friendsโ, Kelsey Miller, revealed in her book that Aniston made sure that Joey and Rachelโs attraction was purely physical.
โAniston wanted it to be made clear that Rachel was not in love with Joey, but was just attracted to him,โ Miller wrote. โIt had to be a crush, and it had to be more funny than emotional, otherwise, this arc would go from risky to unwatchable.โ
But we may finally be able to check in on Ross and Rachelโs relationship with speculation rife that the cast are set to reunite.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, an unscripted special is in the works to commemorate the showโs 25th anniversary in 2020.
Aniston teased the announcement during a surprise appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

โListen, we would love for there to be something, but we donโt know what that something is,โ the actress hinted. โSo weโre just trying. Weโre working on somethingโฆโ
