We already knew Helen Mirren was fabulous, but our love for her just went to a whole new level. Twice in one week.
Let’s start in London. Helen was in town for the premiere of her new HBO series, Catherine the Great, but she didn’t walk the red carpet. No, she was carried down it. Sitting on a throne, looking regal AF in her square-neck navy blouse and matching extra wide-leg pants, along with a black-opal-and-diamond Chopard necklace and earrings, she was marched down the carpet by four surly Russian henchmen.
Next stop, Paris Fashion Week.
Helen took to the runway for the L’Oréal Paris Le Défilé show barefoot. The 74-year-old skipped down the runway then twirled in her black and white chiffon Giambattista Valli dress.
It was an entire mood.
Helen was joined by a long list of fellow L’Oréal ambassadors, such as Eva Longoria, Camila Cabello, Amber Heard, Iskra Lawrence, Andie MacDowell, SooJoo Park and Doutzen Kroes, who were dressed in pieces from leading French designers such as Balmain, Cédric Charlier, Dries Van Noten, Elie Saab, Etudes, Giambattista Valli, Karl Lagerfeld and Rokh.
“If it was just me in a show, it would be, ‘Oh, what an amazing novelty that they have a really old woman walking!’—and I wouldn’t feel so good about that,” Helen told Vogue backstage. “But here we are, a whole, diverse group of sizes, shapes, genders, and races. We’re making a statement about inclusivity of the family of L’Oreal and I think that’s a great message and I’m happy to be a part of it.” After a short pause, she added: “I just hope I don’t fall over!”
