If you’re as excited as we are about Season 3 of The Handmaid’s Tale, especially since a new teaser recently dropped, you’d be happy to know that thanks to some keen photographers we have another glimpse of what we can expect to see in the new season.
Shared by The Washington Post on Instagram, one of the jaw-dropping photos shows filming underway for the new season, “filmed on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on Friday.”
Evy Mages, a photographer for Washingtonian, also captured the eerie images of 200 handmaidens in the National Mall.
Others took to Twitter to share the haunting scenes. The red and white costume has become synonymous with political protest in the US and many thought it was another demonstration, before noting that the show’s stars were present.
At the end of the show’s Season 3 teaser trailer, viewers were given a glimpse of this exact moment, with handmaids lining up on the National Mall, with the Washington Monument turned into a giant cross in the distance. Clearly, some pivotal scenes will be taking place in Washington D.C. when the series returns:
