The good people of the internet think they’ve figured out how climate change activist Greta Thunberg is so incredible and it’s not because she realised the planet is dying and no one was doing anything about it, it’s because of the simple fact that she’s a time traveller sent here from the year 1898.
A black-and-white photo of three children working a gold mine in northwest Canada – something Greta would most definitely not endorse – has gone viral after someone found the 120-year-old picture in the University of Washington archives and noticed how similar to the Swedish teen one of the girls looks.
Twitter quickly decided it was most definitely Greta in the photo, noting that both girls even wear their hair in a similar side-plait:
There’s just one thing confusing me: If Greta did have the ability to travel, surely she would’ve picked a couple of decades earlier to put a stop to single-use plastic before it even began, rather than popping up in 2019 with a Trump presidency and an environment in crisis?
Currently, the 16-year-old is sailing back to Sweden after speaking at the United Nations Climate Action Summit where she challenged world leaders to take action for the planet and next generation.
The main takeaway of this time traveller business?
