Itโs that time of year again. Google will be showing off their new hardware at the Made by Google event in New York City.
What can we expect?
Most of us have a pretty good idea of what will be announced at this yearโs event as there has been a steady flow of rumours and leaks about the products we expect to see launched.
The Pixel 4 and 4 XL
You can safely bet your house on this. Expect to see the next generation of Googleโs Pixel phones: the Pixel 4 and 4 XL. These will likely see upgrades that make them superior to their predecessors, such as a new 90hz display, โFace Unlockโ technology, a three-lens camera similar to the one found on Appleโs new iPhone 11 Pro and an array of other fresh features.
An updated Google Nest Mini and Google Nest WiFi
There has been word of an updated Google Home Mini, now called the Google Nest Mini after the tech giant recently rebranded all of their Home devices to carry the โNestโ moniker and join the Google Nest family of products. No one seems to know what updates we will see for this product, but we believe the improvements will be minor and cosmetic.
If a voice-tech enabled house is your thing, then youโll be excited to hear that the next generation of the Google Nest WiFi is likely to be announced. Google released the current version in 2016, so an updated model would boast some improvements that bring it up to par with what is currently on the market.
Pixelbook 2
This one is always worth a mention. The Pixelbook has been a solid competitor to the Apple iPad Pro and Microsoft Surface, but sadly itโs never been available in Australia. Expecting that to change this time around might be setting yourself up for disappointment.
What else might we see?
We could see some updated Pixel Buds as they are now a couple of years old and beginning to show their age when compared to other truly wireless earbuds out there.
And could this be the year where we finally see the Pixel Watch? Possibly. Last minute rumours have begun to surface about a possible announcement, but we have been here before and Iโm not sure itโs worth getting too excited about it.
How and when will I be able to watch it?
The event will kick-off at 10 am on Tuesday, October 15th in New York City, which means that almost everyone in Australia will be reading about this the next day.
However, If you are committed and want to be among the first to find out about Googleโs new products and upgrades, you can watch the event live on the Made by Google YouTube channel at 1:00 am AEDT on Wednesday, October 16th.
