The Bachelorette‘s Georgia Love is in a hard place right now. On the one hand, she’s found love with the Lee Elliott, but on the other, her mum has passed away from cancer. Belinda Love‘s death would be difficult at any time, but as Georgia recently revealed on The Project, it came just 24 hours after the finale of the reality show aired.
Opening about the traumatic event, she said ‘one of the happiest moments’ (i.e. when her and Lee could share their hidden romance with the world), was swiftly followed by heartbreak. Shortly after the finale aired, Georgia got the dreaded phone call.

Reflecting on the moment, Georgia said: “We could finally be in the same room together and tell each other how we feel and relax. And literally 24 hours later I got the worst phone call of my life. It’s been incredibly difficult, but would have just been made so much more difficult if Lee had not been there. There are silver linings and my mum absolutely supported me 100 per cent in doing this and in everything I did.”
Georgia also recounts that people often question if she has regrets about ‘going away for three months’ while her mum was sick and looking for love on reality TV.
She says no, that all things happen for a reason: “You know, you can look back at any point of your life and go, ‘Well, I was away for two months travelling there or a year working there’. But if I had not have gone on The Bachelorette I would not have (met) Lee. But I would have still been in Tassie, I would have been further away from my mum. So, you know, I don’t regret anything that happened.”
