“We could have been her support network,” one relative said in the wake of grim revelations about the girl’s final months.

The girl’s father wept as he described her as “princess of my life”, while one of the girl’s two brothers said she had always looked after him and his twin, according to Nine News

It has emerged that the girl wasreportedly raped repeatedly by two carers in her foster facility. Then, just weeks before she was due to testify at the trial of one of her abusers, she died of a drug overdose.

Day two of the inquest revealed that the facility where Girl X overdosed was like a “drop-in house” with visitors coming and going “at all hours”.

Youth workers would usher visitors out the front door, but they would creep around the back and re-enter through a window. One fearful resident allegedly locked herself in her room to escape the intruders.

The inquest has also heard from a childcare worker, who said the life of Girl X was the most complex case he had encountered. “If you could write a textbook on how to traumatise a child, it would be (about the girl),” he said, according to Channel Nine News.
