According to multiple reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will skip the high-profile event set to take ahead of a NATO summit just outside of the capital.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently enjoying a break from the media spotlight amid news that the couple are seeking legal action against British tabloids, The Sun and The Daily Mirror.
Although it won’t be the first time Meghan has avoided a visit from the Trumps.
On June 3, the US President flew across the pond with the First Lady and his adult children in tow for a three-day trip.
The Queen, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall welcomed America’s first family to the country in the Buckingham Palace garden.
The Duchess of Sussex famously stayed home during the state visit after Trump described the royal as “nasty” just days before his arrival.
Before becoming a member of the royal household, the former actress publicly criticised Trump for his “misogynistic” policies in 2016 – even threatening to move to Canada if he was sworn in.
During an interview with The Sun, Trump revealed that he wasn’t aware of her comments.
“I didn’t know that,” the 73-year-old said. “What can I say? I didn’t know that she was nasty.”
In a not-so-subtle reaction to the news, Prince Harry was not once photographed speaking with the President despite joining in on several photo opportunities with the Trump clan.
The President has visited the UK twice previously and both events were met with public outcry.
When he first visited in July 2018, tens of thousands of sign-bearing protestors took to the streets while a giant Donald Trump baby blimp flew across the skyline.
This morning, the presidential couple landed in London via Air Force One ahead of their next three-day royal visit.
Despite the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to opt out of the forthcoming Buckingham Palace reception, the Queen, Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles and the Duchess of Cambridge are expected to make an appearance.
