As writer and Twitter user Stefan Hack correctly observed, the phrase: “President Donald Trump looked directly at a solar eclipse today” is “objectively the stupidest sentence of all time”. And yes, we’re here to report on that ridiculously stupid thing.
Americans were warned by NASA experts NOT to look directly at the eclipse without the aide of specially made glasses, CNN notes. But—predictably—Trump ignored those simple instructions and stared directly at the eclipse.

The US President watched the spectacle from the White House balcony with First Lady, Melania Trump, and son Barron. While he did also follow protocol and slip on a pair of trendy NASA glasses, by that point the entire internet had already seen—and ridiculed— the images of Trump squinting at the sun.
