The reality TV star was sentenced today by a federal judge in Pittsburgh in the US, after pleading guilty to both cases last year. According to reports, the judge also ordered Miller to pay a $US40,000 ($54,000 AUD) fine and spend two years on probation following her release.

Before she was sentenced, Miller read a lengthy statement. “I’m certainly ashamed to be meeting you for the first time in this manner,” Page Six reports she told the judge. “I wish you could take my class or come to one of my events and see how much I love this.”

The star went on to say that she ran her business into debt after taking it over from her father, and claimed she intended to pay everyone back. ““I didn’t realise when you apply for bankruptcy it’s like signing up for more homework,” she said.

Miller also claimed that she wasn’t attempting to deceive anyone, but rather just trying to keep her business running.
