Penn Badgley’s character in Netflix’s You sent shivers down the spines of viewers, but that’s nothing compared to the creepy texts a woman has received from a stranger she met on the train.
In case you haven’t yet binged the thriller series (FYI, you should), it’s about a man who stalks a girl he met at his bookstore. In order to track his crush down he then begins using social media to find out everything he can.
Lydia Lorraine, 20, has shared a text exchange she shared with a stranger online and it’s being compared to the eery scenes of You.

Lynda, from the UK, shared the messages on Twitter asking if she was “overreacting”.
She explained: “So I briefly spoke to someone on the train last week, we didn’t even exchange socials or anything and today he messaged me.
“Am I overreacting by being creeped out because what on earth.”
She shared snaps of the exchange, which begins by the man introducing himself as “Josh from the train”.
He claims to have got Lynda’s number from one of her friends, adding: “I hope u don’t mind.”
Lynda immediately tells him it’s “creepy”, before asking which one her friends gave out her number.
Josh replies: “I searched u on Insta and you follow some people I know so I asked about u.”
“I’m not even being funny but don’t you think it’s less creepy to just follow me on Instagram instead of asking around for my number?” Lydia promptly responds.
The messages take a slightly sinister turn, with the man claiming she’s “not the type of girl I DM”.
He seems pretty confident his tracking her down was romantic, not creepy, and presumes that Lydia will go out with him.
He tells her all will be revealed on Thursday, saying: “Cos I’m taking u out and we can talk more then.”
Unsurprisingly, Lydia declined Josh’s offer.
But of course, it didn’t end there. After declining the offer to meet, Josh turns sinister.
“It took me days to get ur number and ur moving like I’m one stalker… u bullsh*t man,” he tells her.
Lydia wasn’t taking any chances and swiftly blocked Josh.
