‘Home And Away’ Stars Pay Tribute To Cornelia Frances

The cast held a minute silence for the TV legend, who passed away after battling cancer

Home and Away stars have paid tribute to Cornelia Frances after it was confirmed the TV legend had passed away at the age of 77 after battling cancer.

Ray Meagher, who played the brother of Frances’ character Morag Bellingham in the long-running Channel 7 soap, revealed the cast and crew held a minute’s silence for the actress.

“Cornie was an incredibly loved and valued member of our cast over many, many years,” Meagher said in a statement. “We had a moment of silence for her on set this morning and she’ll be sadly missed by both cast and crew.”

Current Home and Away stars Lynne McGranger and Ada Nicodemou also shared their tributes for Frances.

“I worked with Cornelia for many years,” McGranger said. “She was very loved and respected. In a way she paved the way for women in Australian TV always playing such strong characters. My thoughts are with Lawrence and her family.”

Nicodemou said, “Cornelia was very loved and respected. She will be sadly missed. Lawrence, her family and friends are in our thoughts.”

Frances, who also starred in The Young Doctors and Brothers and Sisters, passed away over night after battling bladder cancer which had spread to her thigh.
