Dr Christine Blasey Ford Speaks Out For The First Time Since Testifying Against Brett Kavanaugh

"I am in awe of the many women and men who have written me to share similar life experiences"

Just two months ago, Dr Christine Blasey Ford stood in front of a packed court and relived the trauma that has followed her since she was a teenager, alleging that Supreme Court nominee – and now Supreme Court Justice – Brett Kavanaugh attempted to sexually assault her when they were in high school. Later, Blasey Ford also revealed the extreme threats she had received since her testimony, resulting in her family having to move four times due to safety concerns.

Last week, Blasey Ford spoke publicly for the first time since the trial, telling supporters via a message on a GoFundMe page that their support and kind letters had “made it possible for us to cope with the immeasurable stress, particularly the disruption to our safety and privacy.”

“Words are not adequate to thank all of you who supported me since I came forward to tell the Senate that I had been sexually assaulted by Brett Kavanaugh,” Blasey Ford wrote (per The Cut).

“Because of your support, I feel hopeful that our lives will return to normal,” she continued, saying the donations received – almost $650,000 USD – were “a godsend” that allowed her family to beef up security “to protect ourselves against frightening threats.”

“Although coming forward was terrifying, and caused disruption to our lives, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to fulfil my civic duty,” she concluded. “Having done so, I am in awe of the many women and men who have written me to share similar life experiences, and now have bravely shared their experience with friends and family, many for the first time. I send you my heartfelt love and support.”
