American mum Candace Payne went viral after laughing hysterically while donning a Chewbacca mask.
Ahh it’s the simple things.
Well Payne has managed to turn that feel-good video into a lucrative exercise which has seen her receive gifts amounting to approximately $570,000 (That’s US$420,000) according to TIME who has crunched the numbers.
So far the stay-at-home mum has received approximately $4,000 gifts from Kohl’s (the store here she bought the mask from in the first place), approximately $10,000 in travel for talk show visits -including The Late Late Show with James Corden and ABC US’s Good Morning America – a $10,000 holiday to Walt Disney World and a Fan Expo Dallas VIP Treatment for $2,700.
However the biggest gift of all would have to be college scholarships awarded to Payne and her entire family by the Southeastern University in Florida which amounts to a whopping $540,000.
“Candace has inspired us and others with her joy, and we want her and her family to experience some of that same joy through this gift,” Dr. Kent Ingle, president of the college, told TIME.
The video has become the most-watched Facebook Live video ever, with more than 155 million views – and counting.
