If you’ve been waiting for Chad Michael Murray to be cast in another rom com or teen coming of age TV show since, well, the early 2000s, then it’s time to rejoice because the One Tree Hill actor has officially be cast in Riverdale. Cue collective applause.
In a statement released by the CW, producers of Riverdale, it was confirmed Murray would be joining the already all-star cast as Edgar, leader of The Farm. Aka, our favourite childhood heartthrob has been cast as a cult leader.
“As the enigmatic leader of the cult-like Farm, Edgar arrives in Riverdale to spread his teachings and heal the ravaged soul of this once wholesome town. Edgar is a charming, handsome guru, but is he hiding a more sinister agenda?” the statement reads.
The show is famous for bringing back some of our favourite teenage-era actors, with the likes of Molly Ringwald, Skeet Ulrich, Luke Perry and Mädchen Amick all playing key characters — and all having impressive cult-show pasts.
Murray posted an Instagram photo confirming the news, holding up his favourite prop from the set. “This is a rock. There are many like it but this one is mine😮 #FMJ #Randommoviereference 😉 Excited to say #EdgarEvernever has arrived,” he wrote.
It’s not yet known when Edgar will appear, but the show is currently filming its fourth season, so it’s safe to assume Murray will make an appearance sooner rather than later.
Now, all we need is for Hillary Duff or Sophia Bush to join the cast. Is that too much to ask?
