She’s one of the best-known actors on the planet – but in her latest film Cate Blanchett is barely recognisable.
In a new trailer released for the feature film, Manifesto, Blanchett embodies 13 very different characters ranging from a newsreader, primary school teacher, construction worker, homeless person and a punk, to name just a few. Basically, Blanchett could even be playing you.
Originally produced as a multi-screen, art installation created by German artist, Julian Rosefeldt, Manifesto debuted in 2015 at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image at 130 minutes. Now reassembled for the feature film, Manifesto sits at 90-minutes ahead of its premiere at the Sundance film festival later this month.
The art film depicts Blanchett in her many unexpected characters, questioning the artists role in society today by reciting more than fifty creative’s manifestos. (Well, if anyone can pull that off, it’s definitely her.)
