Beloved Australian fashion designer Camilla Franks was diagnosed with breast cancer in May, just months after giving birth to her first child, daughter Luna Gypsy.
Camilla, who is famed the world over for her kaleidoscopic kaftans and exuberantly bohemian prints, shared the news with Australian media and on her label’s Instagram account, before surprising everyone by bravely walking the runway of her Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia show.
“I would be lying if I said I wasn’t scared but I am fearlessly determined to do whatever it takes by focusing on my body, mind and spirit as I take my first trusting steps towards recovery,” Camilla’s statement at the time read.
Now, the designer has shared nine, powerful images and family portraits to her Instagram account as an update to her fans and followers of her journey to recovery.
“My strength behind me. Our future in front. With me always,” she captioned a moving photo with her fiance, JP Jones, and their daughter, Luna Gypsy.
In the last image of the series, taken by Georges Antoni, Camilla writes: “I am bald and broken but I will not be beaten.”
“Our amazing Camilla is responding well to treatment and wanted to capture where she is on her personal path fighting cancer,” CAMILLA CEO Jane McNally said.
“The strength and authenticity evident in these images is what we always see when she comes into the office.”
“Camilla and JP are incredibly grateful for the love and kindness shown to them throughout this time and have been touched by the messages of support. She continues to have all of our love and encouragement.” McNally continued.
Our thoughts and best wishes are with Camilla and her family.
