Camila Morrone Addresses Her 22-Year Age Gap With Leonardo DiCaprio

She's heard what people are saying about her relationship

Despite being in a relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio for over a year and a half – a time which has included multiple overseas trips, meeting the parents and rumours of an engagement – people can’t get past Camila Morrone’s 22-year age gap with the Oscar-award winning actor.

Over the weekend, the 22-year-old actress shared black and white images of iconic Hollywood couple Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall to Instagram, writing “A love like this.” The pair, who shared more than a 20-year age gap, stayed together despite the controversy surrounding their romance.

Naturally, trolls were quick to assume Camila was finding similarities between Bogart and Bacall and her own relationship, with many taking it upon themselves to shut her down in the comments. “You only have a couple more years before he dumps you girl! Collect your bag,” one wrote, while another commented, “Leo only cares about your body.”

Instead of ignoring the jabs, something she’s likely had to endure over the entire course of her relationship, Camila took to Instagram Stories to address the hate. “Good morning people and happy Friday” she said in a video. “I just read some of the comments on my Instagram and…my God, people are so mean and full of anger with people that they know nothing about.”

“I guess I just hope on this Friday that people learn to live with a little less hatred and place their time and interests elsewhere, because living without hatred feels pretty good,” she ended her message.

Just last week, it was reported that Leo and Camila are “pretty serious.” “It’s definitely not a casual relationship,” a source told PEOPLE of the pair. “Camila spends a lot of time at his house and Leo introduced [Camila] to both of his parents long ago.”

Leo was first linked to Camila in December 2017, before they were spotted on a ski holiday together in Aspen, Colorado in January 2018. Since then, they’ve travelled all over the world together, including a trip to Italy last summer, Coachella in April and Cannes Film Festival in May. Most recently, Camila attended the Los Angeles premiere of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood to support her beau.
