Season five will be the last of cult spoof cop show Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and we are in mourning for Captain Holt and Jake Peralta and Boyle and Gina Linetti and Terry Crews already.
Deadline reports that the series has been canned after Fox and Universal failed to reach an agreement. Brooklyn Nine-Nine was the last remaining Fox comedy produced by an external studio (it was also the highest-rating last year, so we would very much like to know why Fox let this one go).
Created by Parks and Recreation’s Dan Goor and Michael Schur, Brooklyn Nine-Nine garnered multiple Golden Globes during its five-season run. It also eclipsed 30 Rock in this writer’s list of all-time favourite TV comedies, which is no easy task.
