Even Beyonce Was Nervous To Meet Meghan Markle At ‘The Lion King’

When royalty meets royalty

Last week, the world was blessed with photos of Beyonce and the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, meeting for the first time. Not only did we get to watch the moment the two queens women hugged for the first time, but we figured out exactly what Beyonce whispered in Meghan’s ear and heard Meghan telling Pharrell that the constant attention surrounding her and Harry isn’t easy. Oh, and Beyonce Australian designer wore Dion Lee.

However, probably the most shocking revelation of the night came over the weekend when comedian and actor Billy Eichner revealed that even Beyonce was nervous about meeting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Eichner, who voices Timon in The Lion King, spoke about the film’s London premiere, calling it a “royal premiere.”

“Prince Harry and Meghan Markle came, and Beyonce was there, and Sir Elton John was there,” he explained, as if the whole world doesn’t know every detail of the night. “And I was there, randomly,” he continued, “And it was great, and we were all kind of nervous, even Beyonce.”

Kimmel cut in to ask, “Really?” and then said, “They should be bowing to her!”

“That’s true, actually. She’s our American royalty,” Eichner replied, before explaining the reason for all of the nerves: “But what makes you nervous is in the days leading up to it, they email you a protocol of how you’re supposed to greet Prince Harry and they’re very intense about it. I’m not kidding.”

Last week, Eichner shared a hilarious video on Instagram of himself freaking out beside Seth Rogan ahead of meeting the Duke and Duchess. “Caught on video last night completely freaking out to @sethrogen about how to greet Prince Harry and Meghan. 😂😂😂”, he captioned the clip.

Of course, given Meghan posted an Instagram about Beyonce during her pre-royal, social media posting days, we’d say the nerves were mutual. Fingers crossed this is the start of a beautiful, public play date-filled friendship.
