The Olympics Opening Ceremony is days away, and the air is heavy with rumours of crumbling beds; Lady Gaga performances Celine Dion and Snoop Dog appearances. Meanwhile, athletes are creating their own news putting on pre-performances on their own.
#Olympicvillage is trending on TikTok, and the Olympics’s biggest stars, from the Matilda’s to British springboard diver and media personality Tom Daley, have been posting swag bags, crumbling beds and sexy vibes on the ground in Paris. And so far? It seems there’s more to these athletes than perfectly chiselled abs and gruelling training routines; they’re pretty funny.

Olympic Village Cardboard Bed Tok
The Olympians are milking the cardboard anti-sex bed scandal for all it’s worth online with British Diver Tom Daley taking his audience for a step-by-step of his set up.
Meanwhile, Australian water polo player Tilly Kearns took a more forensic approach to the beds, explaining that the cardboard was just where the problems began. It’s the “rock solid mattresses” that are really dimming Olympians’ fire.

Some teams are better-taken care of than others, and Tilly shouted out team manager Luke Kearn for hooking his team up with memory foam mattress toppers. “I was woken up every second hour, I thought I was going to sleep on the floor.” She added the team would be showing their gratitude. “You can expect some gold medal performances from here on out.”

One scandal? The Olympic sailing team are benefitting from their competition taking place in the South of France, in Marseille which means they’re skipping bed-gate. Sarah M Douglas posted indicating she wasn’t to sad about missing out on all the fun on the ground: “When you’re in a satellite village with only your sport but at least I have a real bed and air conditioning.” Meanwhile, Camilla Kemp showed off waterside views. We can assume the Matilda’s will be spewing.

Some Olympic #gifting is better than others, and Olympians are posting and comparing their swag. USA rugby champion Ilona Mahera was feeling good in her SKIMS bikini and two-pieces, posting, “This week, a hot new bombshell enters the villa.” Some were feeling less sexy. Goalkeeper for Matilda’s Mackenzie Arnold presented without comment some hideous knee-length ombre skirts; no comment required.

As you’d expect in Paris, our Paris Olympics 2024 heroes are drowning in baguettes. And while they’re enjoying the carbo-loading some of them are phoning in sub-par reviews of the dining hall experience with underseasoned meals hitting the village hard. We can only hope the surfers are enjoying better fare top deck in the South of France. Gymnast Aleah Finn has established herself as a food critic to watch.

Just how necessary are the anti-sex beds? Olympians are giving reviews of vibes on the ground, with the first trickling in from Ilona Maher, who was back with her review of Parisian men. “A man just talked to me. He asked me to move forward because I was holding everyone up,” she said, not letting the famous French brusqueness get her down. “I think our wedding colours will be like forest green or something.”

So far, the Olympians have surprised and delighted us with their pre-performances and we’ll be tuning in on our favourites for more training, dining and sex and dating reviews from the ground in Paris, it’s the best way to feel like you’re there while watching the Matilda’s at 3am from home.
