Here we were thinking thatโ€™s very reasonable, and leaves plenty of time before stressing about the body clock, when all of a sudden, someone had to rock the boat and release a new study. And youโ€™re not going to like what it has to say.

Cognitive scientist Tom Griffiths and journalist Brian Christian released a book called Algorithms to Live By: The Computer Science of Human Decisionsand they think maths can guide the way you navigate your relationships.

They explore an algorithm called โ€˜the 37% ruleโ€™, which suggests that we make our best decisions in life after screening 37% of the options.

The authors have suggested that when you apply this to โ€˜looking for loveโ€™, and assume that the average ages people are looking for partner from is 18 โ€“ 40, then the โ€˜37% markโ€™ would be 26. They suggest that after that, options start getting taken up and youโ€™re left with a smaller pool.

So 26 is their suggestion for the โ€˜ideal age to get marriedโ€™.

But obviously, you should make up your own mind, and this is different for every person.
