Her last broadcast almost went off without a hitch, however in the final moments, as she was saying goodbye, things turned awkward. Really awkward.

As co-host Peter Hitchener said the final goodbye and was wishing her well, sports anchor Tony Jones walked into the shot to also bid Bec farewell.

First of all, Jones put an arm around Bec, lingering it there as the trio spoke.

But then as he said โ€œGood luck, Bec,โ€ he leaned in for a kiss, presumably he was going for the cheek but a surprised Bec quickly squealed and pulled away.

Jones took a step back, crossed his arms, and said: โ€œOk, good, this is going well.โ€

The three broke out in laughter and Hitchener quickly wrapped up the show.

Afterwards Bec took to Instagram to laugh off the incident. โ€œOkaaaaaaaaay then. Final weather bulletin before maternity leave didnโ€™t quite go to plan but as always, thanks to my wonderful@9newsmelbourne family for the laughs.@phitchener9 @tonyjones9

Jones also took to Twitter, writing โ€œWell that wasโ€ฆ #awkwardโ€.
