The former deputy prime minister and his former media advisor turned partner turned mother of his child are speaking out about the affair that rocked the country on Channel 7’s Sunday Night this weekend.

In the teaser clip, Joyce is seen cuddling Campion as she says, “It was all worth it for this.”

It continues to show Campion saying, “You can’t help who you fall in love with,” before cutting to Joyce, who says, “I failed, I failed, I failed.”

Many have been criticising the couple for accepting $150,000 for the interview, saying politicians should never take money from the media. Following the controversy, Joyce has taken an 11-week leave of absence from work for personal reasons.

When asked by reporters about accepting the money, the Nationals MP shot back “I didn’t,” before blaming the deal on his partner.

“We tried for privacy. In the last fortnight we’ve had drones over our house. We’ve had paparazzi waiting for us outside Armidale airport… we’ve tried just burning this out and that didn’t work. But that is not what they wanted,” he said.

“They wanted an interview… to get Vikki’s side of the story and like most mothers she said, “Seeing as I am being screwed over… if everybody else is making money then [I am] going to make money out of it”
