Remember the clock? How about the swimming pool? Or the doll with a skirt made of marshmallows?
They were the cakes that punctuated our childhood – chosen carefully from the Australian Women’s Weekly Birthday Cake Cookbook every year, baked by mum and then devoured at our birthday parties (and the parties of everyone you knew).
And now – in a stroke of genius – the charity PANDSI has used our favourite childhood cakes to raise money and awareness for post-natal depression.
PANDSI (Post and Antenatal Depression or Anxiety Support and information inc) challenged Canberra bakers to make every one of the 103 cakes in the cookbook, and the results were then judged over the weekend.
Altogether, the charity raised $20,000. If you would like to donate, visit https://www.gofundme.com/PANDSICakeOff.
