Anne Hathaway Faked Oscars Speech

Oscar-wining actress Anne Hathaway just can’t take a trick after admitting she was in a dark place when she won her Academy Award for Les Miserables

The star has managed to stir up her devoted online crew of Hathahaters after confirming she only pretended to be joyously happy with her 2013 Academy Award win for Les Miserables.

In an interview with The Guardian, Hathaway came clean about her infamous Best Supporting Actress acceptance speech, admitting she actually felt uncomfortable about winning the coveted award.

“It’s an obvious thing, you win an Oscar and you’re supposed to be happy. I didn’t feel that way,’’ she said. “I felt wrong that I was standing there in a gown that costs more than some people are going to see in their lifetime.

“I kind of lost my mind doing that movie and it hadn’t come back yet,’’ she went on to explain. “Then I had to stand up in front of people and feel something I don’t feel which is uncomplicated happiness.”

At the time Hathaway was publicly derided for opening her Oscars acceptance speech with the words ‘’It came true’’ – presumably a nod to her character Fantine’s famous lyric “I dreamed a dream in time gone by.”

Consequently her Hathahaters came out in force chastising her for a cringe-worthy quote and declaring it proof she had over-rehearsed the speech, while feigning surprise at winning. In short, the speech made us all feel awkward because she was awkward in giving it.

Three years later Hathaway has added fuel to the fire with her weekend confession “I tried to pretend that I was happy and I got called out on it, big time,’’ she declared in the interview.

Now the world awaits to see if the Hathahaters respond with their anticipated vitriol.
