Hundreds of people attended a memorial service at Casaurina Street Primary School for the teenager who tragically took her own life on January 3 after months of bullying and online harassment.

As ABC News reports, speakers paid their respects to Dolly with poems, speeches and prayers; the packed audience included Dolly’s father Tick Everett, mother Kate and sister Megan.

Mr Everett said his family would remember his teenage daughter “as a kind, gentle and loving little girl” who “loved her animals and cared so deeply for other people less fortunate than her”.

“She was loved by so many and made friends with everyone she came across. Dolly saw the good in this world and the good of everyone she met,” he recounted after the service, 9 News reports.

In the wake of her tragic death, Dolly’s family are launching a trust called ‘Dolly’s Dream’ to shine a spotlight on bullying, anxiety, depression, and youth suicide.

“We don’t want another family to go through what we’re going through…it won’t bring our Dolly back but it may just prevent the loss of another young life,” Mr Everett said

“It should not have taken the loss of a young life to drive this change, but this is where our journey will start.”

He ended his media address by quoting the moving message of Dolly’s final drawing.

“Talk to your children, please, just talk to your children and everybody else and please just remember to speak even if your voice shakes.”

Northern Territory Police have confirmed they are looking into the circumstances of Dolly’s death.
