The Trailer For ‘The Assassination of Gianni Versace’ Has Dropped

And it looks fantastic

Last year’s hit series, The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story, was a knockout. And if latest Ryan Murphy’s follow-up, American Crime Story: The Assassination Of Gianni Versace, is even half as good as its predecessor, it’ll be unmissable.

The series follows the murder of Italian fashion giant Gianni Versace, who was slain by a serial killer Andrew Cunanan (played by Darren Criss) in 1997.

The colourful trailer has everything— men in speedos, Penélope Cruz nailing her performance as Donatella Versace, and even a bunch of white doves. Ricky Martin also appears as Versace’s model and designer partner Antonio D’Amico.

The trailer is equal parts glamour and dark violence, showing both the fabulous excess of the Versace mansion and the psychology of the man who killed the famous designer.

“This world has wasted me. Yet this world also made you, Mr. Versace, into a star. You’re not better than me; we’re the same. The only difference is that you got lucky,” Cunanan says in the clip. Cue: chills.
