If you changed channels after Sam and Tara’s proposal on Bachelor in Paradise, you may have missed the news: right before the final credits rolled, Network 10 announced that Ali Oetjen had parted ways with Grant, and would return to our screens as the 2018 Bachelorette.

But just who is Ali Oetjen? Below, we’ve compiled everything there is to know about the 32-year-old, from previous engagements to her relationship with Tim Robards.

1/ She moved to LA to be with Grant post-Paradise, but things didn’t work out

Reportedly because he revealed a completely different side once the cameras stopped rolling – even expecting her to have a threesome with his friend. Good riddance.

2/ She’s ready for children

In her personal announcement of the news on Instagram, Ali explained, “I’m 32, I’m ready to be married and have kids but I’m willing to wait until I find the right one.” To stress the point, she included the hashtags #wantsafamily.

3/ She broke her leg on national television

Cast your mind back to the very first Australian season of The Bachelor, when Ali jumped off a yacht on a group date, only to hit a producer’s canoe and break her leg – resulting in two surgeries and a knee reconstruction. She also had to see out the rest of the season on crutches.

4/ She’s been engaged before

News.com.au reports that Ali fell for fellow Adelaide resident David Waldeck shortly after filming The Bachelor, and the couple announced their engagement in 2015. Sadly, they broke things off before the wedding. 

5/ She’s now a ‘healthy lifestyle motivator’

On Ali’s website, you can buy her e-book to ‘potentially transform your figure in eight weeks’, plus meal plans. She also blogs all things healthy and happy living on the platform.

6/ Before the Bachelor, she worked for a real estate agent

According to the Daily Telegraph, Ali told media she was an agent, but sources later said she worked as a receptionist for a real estate firm.

7/ She used to do beauty pageants

Not only was Ali a 2011 Miss Universe South Australia contestant,  she also competed in the Miss Tourism Australia pageant the same year.
