“If they can’t hear you, they can’t hunt you,” is the chilling premise of the new supernatural horror film, A Quiet Place, directed by John Krasinski.
Starring Emily Blunt and her off-screen husband Krasinski, A Quiet Place follows a family living a very quiet life in the woods for a terrifying reason. The couple and their children communicate via sign language, tiptoe through their house and don’t utter a word. “Listen closely, move carefully, and never make a sound,” the tagline for the film explains.
But then, a gas lantern is loudly knocked over one night.
Gulp.
A Quiet Place has received ecstatic praise from both critics and audiences. Its brilliant concept, ingenious sound design and scare factor are all huge selling points.
After seeing a preview last week (and watching through parted fingers), we have some great news: A Quiet Place absolutely lives up to the hype. The bad news? It will definitely give you nightmares.
According to Deadline, the film is based on a script Krasinski wrote, while titan Michael Bay is one of the producers. It also marks the first time Blunt and Krasinski have appeared in a movie together. Based on their petrifying on-screen debut we can only assume their marriage is bundles of fun.
