If, like us, you’ve been trawling the internet for the next best series to binge-watch—after all, we have the time to kill—then there’s no doubt you’ve come across, or at least heard of, the hilariously dark series The White Lotus.
Streaming on Binge and Foxtel, the show follows a group of guests who are attending a luxurious Hawaiian resort à la Nine Perfect Strangers, and over the span of one-week plan to relax and rest in paradise. However, with every day that passes, a darker complexity emerges between the travellers and the hotel’s cheerful employees.
And while the series’ plot line is intriguing enough, it’s the star-studded cast that has most fans captivated, transfixed and downright obsessed.
With a Hollywood A-list lineup including names like Connie Britton, Jennifer Coolidge and Sydney Sweeney, there are an array of other cast members who may not have recognisable names, but their faces have fans curious as to where they’ve seen them before.
Jennifer Coolidge as Tanya McQuoid
There’s no doubt that one look at Tanya McQuoid (two syllables, but only one for the ‘quoid’), will trigger a bend-and-snap response. That’s right, the show’s star, Jennifer Coolidge is one of Hollywood’s most recognisable faces (and voices) to date. Known for her roles as Paulette Bonafonte in the Legally Blonde franchise (and reprising the same role in Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next” music video), she has also starred in American Pie, A Cinderella Story, A Series of Unfortunate Events and Promising Young Woman, as well as guest appearances on Glee, Friends, and Sex and the City.
Connie Britton as Nicole Mossbacher
One of the most known faces from the series, Connie Britton stars as Nicole Mossbacher who attends the resort with her family in tow. Aside from The White Lotus, Britton has starred in a large array of popular film and TV series’ like Friday Night Lights as Tami Taylor, a role for which won her two Emmy nominations. She has also starred in American Horror Story: Murder House, Nashville, The People v. O.J. Simpson as Faye Resnick, American Crime Story, Dirty John, and Promising Young Woman.
Alexandra Daddario as Rachel
In The White Lotus, Alexandra Daddario plays Rachel, who is vacationing to the resort with her new husband for their honeymoon, and has to endure a surprise visit from her inappropriate mother-in-law. Some may recognise Daddario as Annabeth Chase in the Percy Jackson franchise, and since then, she has starred in blockbusters like Texas Chainsaw, San Andreas and Baywatch. She has also starred in shows like Parenthood, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, New Girl, and True Detective.
Sydney Sweeney as Olivia Mossbacher
Playing Olivia, the teenage daughter of the Mossbacher family, Sydney Sweeney has tallied up an impressive line up of previous work, despite being only 23 years old. Most notably, she is known for playing Cassie in Euphoria, as well as starring in season two of The Handmaid’s Tale, Under the Silver Lake with Andrew Garfield, Big Time Adolescence with Pete Davidson and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood alongside Brad Pitt.
Brittany O’Grady as Paula
As one of the newest faces in The White Lotus, Brittany O’Grady plays Paula, Olivia’s friend who gets to join the Mossbacher family on vacation. Previously, she’s starred in the short-lived CW show The Messengers, Star and Apple TV+’s romance Little Voice.
Jake Lacy as Shane Patton
An incredibly familiar face to many, Jake Lacy plays Shane Patton, Rachel’s spoiled and rich husband. Before heading to The White Lotus, Lacy has previously starred in Girls, I’m Dying Up Here and Carol. He has also been a series regular on High Fidelity, but he is likely most known from his role as Pete from the final season of The Office.
Murray Bartlett as Armond
Taking to the small screen as Armond, the arrogant manager of The White Lotus resort, Murray Bartlett is an Australian actor who some may recognise him from his lead role on Netflix’s miniseries Tales of the City or for his guest roles on Sex and the City, Flight of the Conchords, Damages, and Nashville.
Fred Hechinger as Quinn Mossbacher
Playing Quinn, Olivia’s younger brother on The White Lotus, Hechinger has appeared in Amy Adams’ psychological thriller, Woman in the Window and Netflix’s horror series Fear Street. He has also worked alongside Tom Hanks in News of the World and Meryl Streep in Let Them All Talk.
Natasha Rothwell as Belinda
Playing Belinda, the masseuse with magic fingers, Natasha Rothwell began as a writer for Saturday Night Live, before she moved on to become a cast member on Issa Rae’s comedy Insecure. She’s also starred in Love, Simon and Love, Victor, as well as Like a Boss and Wonder Woman 1984.
Steve Zahn as Mark Mossbacher
As for Steve Zahn, he played Nicole’s husband who is facing a health scare down south, but what is more questionable is where we recognise his face from. Well, Zahn has been in a plethora of famous TV shows and films since the mid ’90s. He’s previously starred in You’ve Got Mail, Stuart Little, Daddy Day Care, Dallas Buyers Club and appeared in an episode of Friends.
Jolene Purdy as Lani
Before starring in The White Lotus as trainee Lani, Jolene Purdy was no stranger to the small screen. Previously, Purdy has starred in WandaVision, Orange Is The New Black, Glee, Raising Hope and Breaking Bad. And of course, who could forget her iconic one-liner from the cult classic Donnie Darko.
Lukas Gage as Dillon
For those who are fans of high school dramas, then you’ve likely seen Lukas Gage on your screen before. Starring as Dillon, one of The White Lotus staff members, Gage has most notably starred in Euphoria as Tyler, Love, Victor and American Vandal.
Alec Merlino as Hutch
The White Lotus is the brainchild of writer, actor and reality TV star Mike White, who has appeared on two seasons of The Amazing Race and one season of Survivor (David vs. Goliath). While White was participating in the latter, so was Alec Merlino, who now appears in The White Lotus as Hutch, one of Armond’s staff at the resort. Don’t you love a small world?
