Prepare to be hooked by The Neversa brand new six-episode series that follows a group of Victorian women who find themselves with unusual abilities, relentless enemies, and a “mission that might change the world.” Sounds epic already, right? 

Below, everything to know about the upcoming series The Nevers including what it’s about, who’s been cast and where you can stream it in Australia. 

What Is The Nevers About? 

The Nevers follows the last years of Queen Victoria’s reign, where London is plagued by the ‘Touched’—people, mostly women, who suddenly manifest abnormal abilities—some useful, and some very sinister.

The official description reads: “They are the champions of this new underclass, making a home for the Touched while fighting the forces of… well, pretty much all the forces—to make room for those whom history as we know it has no place.”

Who Has Been Cast? 

The show features a huge female cast, including Outlander’s Laura Donnelly as its lead character of Amalia True, joined by Ann Skelly (Vikings) as Penance Adair. Other notable cast include Olivia Williams, Amy Manson, Pip Torrens and Elizabeth Tomlinson. 

James Norton will play Hugo Swann, a “pansexual posh boy” who runs a secret club, with Nick Frost as The Beggar King, a low-level criminal in the community, while Poldark’s Eleanor Tomlinson is set to play a singer called Mary Brighton.

Why Did Joss Whedon Step Down From The Series?

In November 2020, Buffy The Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon announced he was stepping down from The Nevers citing various reasons for his decision in “this year of unprecedented challenges” and amid allegations of misconduct on set throughout his career. British screenwriter Philippa Goslett was announced as the new showrunner in January 2021.
