The Brain Behind Becca Cosmetics, INVISIBLE ZINC & WelleCo Is Branching Out Into Skincare

And it's already garnering rave reviews.

As far as the Australian beauty and wellness industry is concerned, no one knows more about giving the people what they want than Andrea Horwood.

The former COO of the beloved Becca Cosmetics, founder of INVISIBLE ZINC, and co-founder of WelleCo alongside Elle Macpherson understands what it takes to become a mainstay in the A-beauty category.

And now she’s setting her sights on the sustainable and natural skincare industry with her new baby — etto.

Is etto Made In Australia?

The brand heroes two Australian native extracts — Blue Mallee eucalyptus oil ($49 from etto) and Australian tea tree oil ($58 from etto) — as well as an inherently Aussie commitment to transparency.

etto is more than happy to share with its customers that every product and its packaging are proudly made and manufactured in Australia. Except for the etto Acne Micro-dart Patches ($17.50 from etto), which are made in South Korea, because the manufacturing technology does not yet exist down under. However, the product’s packaging is completely recyclable.

All of etto’s products use either post-consumer recycled plastic or minimal and recyclable packaging, and are posted using carbon footprint-reducing methods. And the brand relies on an independent tech solution called ‘ClearForMe’ that boasts over 1.6 million ingredients in its database to ensure etto customers know exactly what is in their skin care products and what it does.

Is etto Australia Sustainable?

Most impressively, every part of etto’s business is carefully considered to ensure the brand meets the benchmark of sustainable and regenerative farming practices in Australia.

The skin care brand is a bi-coastal circular farming operation with etto’s Blue Mallee eucalyptus farm situated in Wajarri Country in Western Australia and the etto tea tree oil farm calling Bundjalung Country home, which borders South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

etto’s eucalyptus farm actually boasts its own upcycled wind turbines, which produce enough power to cover the electrical output of the farm, as well as contributing energy back to the grid. These wind turbines also help to power the farm’s irrigation pumps, which are supplied with water from secure water resources.

The brand is also committed to curbing the effects of deforestation by regularly planting trees and extracting leaves for distillation using a hand-harvesting method called coppicing that ensures new growth. Whilst the oil (which is so central to the brand’s products) is extracted using traditional off-grid, alcohol-free steam distillation methods, and the leaves that have been used during the oil extraction process are then repurposed as mulch.

etto Australia Reviews

Naturally, this transparent approach to skincare (which is a category so often fraught with hearsay and misinformation) has appealed to Australian sensibilities. The brand is already garnering a wealth of five-star reviews from customers who’ve integrated etto’s products into their lives, as well as the lives of their families.

etto’s body care products are clear crowd favourites that can be used by the whole family. From in the shower, to the vital moments after, there’s the etto Premedicated All Over Body Foam ($35 from etto), Forest Lungs™ Steam Inhalers ($38 from etto), The Pure Oil Body Spray ($40 from etto), and The Skin Balm ($40 from etto) to fall in love with.

“LOVE the [etto Premedicated All Over Body Foam], use it everyday, head to toe. Love the ‘tea tree tingle’ on any little cuts and grazes after a day in the garden, as a scalp treatment, and now as a facial cleanser. There’s one in every bathroom. Kids love it too for any body breakouts, [and] hubby as a shave cream (well, they all need it).”

As for skincare connoisseurs, the aforementioned Acne Micro-dart Patches ($17.50 from etto), as well as The Clay Mask ($49 from etto) are a must for recalibrating unbalanced skin. Both are infused with one hundred per cent tea tree oil, which naturally reduces inflammation and breakout-causing bacteria.

“Loving these products! I have been using the clay mask along with the body foam as I’m prone to breakouts and have noticed my skin looks clearer, and feels so fresh and clean after without that dry feeling I’ve had from using other tea tree based products. Skin feels beautiful and soft.”
