Marie Claire Editors Share Their (Self-Love) Valentine’s Wish List

Things that she'll actually want...

It’s that time of year again. Yes, Valentine’s Day is here. While you won’t find us sitting at a restaurant starring wistfully at a date with a wilted red rose by our side, we will be treating ourselves – because as Miley Cyrus sings, “I can buy myself flowers”. Yes we can.

Here it goes: from pretty flower-adorned cakes to beautiful roses to lots (and lots) of pampering, our editors share what’s on their self-love wish list this year – plus, what loving yourself really means to the marie claire team.

Georgie Abay, Editor

“Self-love means so many different things. For me, it’s time. Nothing is more precious than time spent with my family and friends – they’re ultimately what makes my world go round. My favourite weekend is one where I have no plans. A day where it feels like you have all the time in the world and no where to rush to. I love belly laughs with a best friend and time with my children and nieces. And of course, I love flowers, cake, pampering, and all the pretty things.”

Emily Gittany, Market Editor

“For me, self-love means time out from my busy life and focusing on me. I love going for a leisurely walk outside, getting caught up in the pages of a good book, indulging in a relaxing facial/pamper sesh, and topping it all off with a cozy movie marathon paired with some delicious food.”

From Top: Altina Pepperberry Shiraz (6 bottle pack), $125. Simone Perele bra, $149.95, and briefs, $89.95. Black Velvet Cupcake box of 6, $44. W Hotel, Sydney AWAY Spa Rejuvinate facial, $250. The Neuroscience of Self Love book, $29.99. Saint Valentine bracelet, $85.

Sally Hunwick, Beauty Director

“Self-love to me is being with my two sons. They are the most important humans in my world; being with them and seeing them smile and thrive is my proudest achievement. They love me like no one else. Being surrounded by my family and my closest friends is my other self-love. Whether it’s eating a meal, going for a swim at the beach or just meeting up at one of our houses they always make me laugh and feel complete.”
