7 Skin-Soothing Moisturisers For Eczema-Prone Skin

One less thing to stress about.
Elle Fanning

Moisturiser is one, if not the most important skin care product in an eczema-prone skin care routine. Why? Well, simply put, because eczema-prone skin functions better when it is moisturised.

Although we’d always recommend chatting to your dermatologist before adding a new moisturiser to cart (especially if you’re dealing with a particularly rough eczema flare-up), if your skin is playing ball for once, and you’re in the market for a moisturiser that’ll keep it in a good mood, then we can definitely help you find the best fit for your face.

Thankfully we live in a day and age that takes sensitive skin types into consideration, which means you don’t have to worry about slathering on a medicinally odorous ointment that never quite seems to absorb properly (no matter how much you rub it in). In fact, you don’t have to worry about fragrance at all, because you won’t find the irritating ingredient anywhere on this list.

Truth be told, there are plenty of eczema-prone skin friendly formulas available from your local Chemist Warehouse and beyond that are tailored to your very skin type’s very specific preferences. Ahead, discover the best moisturiser options for eczema-prone skin…

Which moisturiser is best for eczema-prone skin?

A moisturiser is a necessity when you have eczema, as leaving the skin to dry out can actually exacerbate eczema symptoms such as itchy skin. Typically moisturisers with a high oil content (also known as ointments) are better for eczema as they are better at replenishing and retaining moisture. While water-based formulas are still beneficial, they won’t nourish eczema-prone skin as well as they tend to evaporate.

What cream do dermatologists recommend for eczema-prone skin?

Dermatologists can prescribe medicated creams and ointments for the treatment of eczema, so if you believe that standard moisturisers aren’t working for your skin we’d suggest seeking further advice from your doctor and a dermatologist.
