The 2017 New York Times exposé detailing Harvey Weinstein’s decades-long concealment of sexual abuse is being made into a movie.
Titled She Said and based on on the book She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement, the film will follow the investigative journalists Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor who played a pivotal role in uncovering the actions of the disgraced movie magnate.
Not much has been revealed about the movie so far, however if the book is anything to go by, we know we’ll get an exclusive glimpse into these women brought down one of Hollywood’s heavyweights.
After the original article was published, over 80 women came forward accusing Weinstein of abuse or assault, with the #MeToo movement forming as a result of the widespread public discussion. The damning allegations lead to a guilty conviction for Weinstein, who is currently serving a 23 year sentence.
With Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan starring as Twohey and Kantor respectively, we know this film will be one of the most highly anticipated to come out of 2022.

She Said will chronicle Twohey and Kantor’s journey to uncover Weinstein’s years of gross misconduct and sexual abuse.

Just as the book focuses on the systemic hierarchical structures of power that enabled Weinstein to cover his crimes for decades, we’re sure this film will delve deep into how Twohey and Kantor brought the allegations to light.
Who Is Starring In ‘She Said’?
Academy-award nominee Carey Mulligan will star as Pulitzer-prize winner Megan Twohey. Considering that Mulligan has experience dealing with contents of sexual abuse from her portrayal of Cassie in Promising Young Woman, we’re sure that her performance will blow us all away.
Zoe Kazan, who you may recognise from Netflix’s Clickbait will star as fellow journalist, Jodi Kantor.
Mulligan and Kazan have also worked together on the 2018 drama, Wildlife, directed by Kazan’s husband Paul Dano.
Patricia Clarkson, who needs no introduction, will also star in the film as Rebecca Corbett, the editor who helms the investigative division at the New York Times.
Directing the film will be Maria Schrader, who won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series in 2020 for the Netflix drama Unorthodox
When Will ‘She Said’ Be Released?
She Said will be released in cinemas in the US on November 18. Given that films are typically released in Australia soon after, we’re sure we won’t have to wait much longer to see this for ourselves.
