We’ve soaked up every minute of reality TV drama gold on Netflix’s Selling Sunset. But many of us have wondered how an office of less than ten people can clash so much. Well, after a look into the zodiac charts of the stars, we’ve gained a little astrological insight and it’s all starting to make sense.
Join us for a wild attempt to (slightly) understand the very chic (and very insane) women and men of The Oppenheim Group.
Christine Quinn
Sign: Libra
Though we would have guessed Scorpio, this one makes a lot of sense when we look at Christine’s most noticeable characteristic: her dedication to aesthetics. Not only do libra’s live for pleasant surroundings, but they’re also quite the planners, making them most likely to throw a killer party (or say, engagement party complete with a live zebra).
They also have a staunch sense of justice that can sometimes lead the astray, and makes them less than great at compromise, so it’s understandable how stubborn Quinn can be when it comes to the office dramas (most of which are fuelled by her, honestly).
But, on the flip-side, this is a sign that is very empathetic, which is likely why we see those fleeting moments of Quinn flip-flopping between stirring the pot and seeming to genuinely care about her co-stars.
Chrishell Stause
Sign: Cancer
This one is a no-brainer. Chrishell came in as the underdog and we all collectively rooted for her like a lost puppy trying to navigate the cutthroat world of Los Angeles real estate. Not only do we see the kind and nurturing side to Chrishell that is typical of many Cancerians, but she also wears her heart on her sleeve in a very water-sign way.
She’s also ready to stick up for a friend, or defend herself, despite not loving conflict, for which we have to praise her for.
There is, however, a tendency for people born under this sign to lean towards being touchy and hypersensitive — as she’s been accused of by co-star Christine.
So, it doesn’t make her the most entertaining to watch, but she’s definitely the kind of friend we’d like to have.
Mary Fitzgerland
Sign: Leo
Mary is the Leo of the group. She’s definitely a textbook Leo in that she is charismatic, bubbly and likes to keep up with her appearance, but she’s also not afraid to defend others and that’s probably why we saw her standing up for newbie Chrishell back in season one, if you recall.
Another Leo trait of hers? Not being great at conflict. This is a sign that does not like conflict, but they also can’t stand to know that people are mad at them so it was no surprise that despite the Davina/Romain wedding drama, Mary still wanted to hash things out with her co-worker.
There is definitely a tendency for Leos to get a little defensive when it comes to their personal lives, so her desire to sweep problems under the rug can be an issue of pride.
Heather Rae Young
Sign: Virgo
Virgos are the perfectionists of the zodiac, and generally don’t put a foot wrong. We can see the Virgo in Heather in her consistency. She’s never really shocking anyone, or doing anything that scandalous, and always looks put-together.
She also doesn’t like to ruffle feathers and keeps things pretty professional… well, compared to everyone else, anyway.
As perfectionists though, Virgos tend to take themselves quite seriously and can jump at even the slightest criticism towards them. This could explain her dramatic response to Amanza’s implication that she may break up with her boyfriend at some point. It also explains why she accosts Amanza for being late to the home inspection since Earth signs are generally pretty big on punctuality, especially when it comes to work.
Davina Potratz
Sign: Capricorn
A very outspoken character, it’s pretty clear from the show that Davina is… honest… to say the least. However, many have accused her of using the excuse of being “direct” as a way to just be mean to people. And it’s true, Capricorns are generally very direct. However, there’s also the not-so-nice qualities of competitiveness and pride that can manifest in all kinds of ways in the workplace.
Their ‘fighting’ styles can also be quite aggressive, and we’ve definitely seen how she butts head with Chrishell (who is unsurprisingly her astrological opposite).
That said though, Capricorns can be very reliable. And while we haven’t seen a great side to her on the show, we have to remember that it’s a heavily edited show and that means we should take all the drama with a grain of salt. If Davina is anything like her fellow Capricorns, then she’s also very smart and a good person to turn to when you need a hand.
Amanza Smith
Sign: Sagittarius
The ‘adventurers’ of the zodiac, Sagittarians are generally characterised by both their gregarious nature, and their woefully aloof ways.
We’ve seen Amanza be the cool-headed (and sometimes scrambling) presence on the show, but she’s a hard-working single mother and very loyal to her friends. She’s also one of the few agents that aren’t afraid of Christine, and will actually stand up to her, which we kind of love to see.
Sagittarians are also quite creative and Amanza certainly knows how to dress up a house (and herself), but they also require a lot of stimulation an can get bored and unmotivated quite quickly. Luckily, we can’t imagine she’s ever bored with everything going on the brokerage.
Jason and Brett Oppenheim
Sign: Aries
The twin brokerage bosses come under the fire sign Aries. And the general consensus with Aries is that they’re the chillest person in the room until, suddenly, they’re not. And when that happens, batten down the hatches.
Though their faces don’t seem to make any discernible expressions, we’ve certainly seen a very stubborn side to these two. But, nevertheless, Aries are great fun to be around, and are strong-willed and confident leaders who aren’t afraid to take a little risk. And, judging by the show’s success, it’s paid off well.
Romain Bonnet
Sign: Gemini
Hmmmmm. ‘Nuff said.
