After a jam-packed year filled with an iconic Super Bowl halftime show (and surprise pregnancy announcement), a touching performance at the Oscars, a fashionably late Met Gala attendance, and the birth of her second child, rumours are swirling that Rihanna is rounding out 2023 with new music on the way.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the singer is set to drop a new album as early as next year, and has partnered with Live Nation for an accompanying global tour.

While Rihanna herself hasn’t addressed the rumours, the outlet said we could expect the tour across 2024 and 2025, which means the tracks would likely drop any time within the next year.

It’s been nearly eight years since Rihanna released her last album, Anti, in 2016. She followed this up with the release of her single, Lift Me Up, in 2022, on the soundtrack of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

In the years since, the 35-year-old has understandably had her hands full, raising her two young children, RZA Athelston Mayers, born in May 2022, and Riot Rose Mayers, born in August, 2023. She and longtime partner A$AP Rocky are said to be loving parenthood, with a source telling People the singer is “the happiest she has ever been.”

In addition to motherhood, Rihanna has also been busy in recent years dominating the beauty and lingerie markets with her companies Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty. But now, if the rumours are true, it seems the singer could be ready to return to her musical roots.

RiRi herself told British Vogue back in February that she was aiming to bless us with new music this year.

“I want it to be this year,” she said at the time. “Like, honestly, it’d be ridiculous if it’s not this year. But I just want to have fun. I just want to make music and make videos.”

So, with just over two months left of 2023, there’s still time for the singer to bless us with something new before the year is out. Here’s hoping!
