When you’re the queen, you should be able to do pretty much whatever you like, whenever you like.
While we’re envisioning watching Netflix in bed with the best cheese platter you could imagine, Queen Elizabeth II prefers tea and biscuits upon waking, followed by Special K and fruit.
The best part? Well, other than having her Buckingham Palace chefs whip up her favourite chocolate biscuit cake, which she has a piece of each day, it turns out the queen is also quite a boozer!
According to Travel + Leisure, Queen Elizabeth II drinks a gin and Dubonnet with lemon and ice before lunch, a wine with lunch, and a dry martini and glass of champagne at night.
That’s right: her Majesty drinks a total of four different alcoholic beverages, every day.
Darren McGrady, a former royal chef, revealed to Business Insider that in the morning (that’s right, the queen approves of drinking pre-12), Queen Elizabeth drinks a gin and Dubonnet cocktail with lemon and ice.
The Telegraph confirms the 91-year-old monarch often enjoys a glass of wine or Champagne with her lunch, and the queen’s late cousin, Margaret Rhodes, has said in the past that she is known to unwind with a dry martini and a glass of Champagne in the evening, reports the Independent.
We’ll cheers to that!
