Prince Harry’s Memoir ‘Spare’ Is Coming — Here’s How To Get Your Hands On It

It's already caused quite the stir.

Prince Harry’s memoir, tantalisingly titled Spare, is not only set to be one of the biggest (and most scandalous) autobiographies released in recent memory, but set to sell out on shelves across the world.

With the impending release of his memoir, Prince Harry has caused a global stir as excerpts of his explosive and revelatory first-hand account of his life, from his time in the royal family to his post-Prince life with Meghan Markle, come to light.

There was speculation as whether the Duke of Sussex’s memoir would ever be published at all, following the death of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and his father King Charles’ ascention to the throne.

Spare promises to be a “raw, unflinchingly honest” account of Prince Harry’s life as the second son, with the headline a clear nod to the idea that monarchs need “an heir and a spare”. Prince Harry is fifth in line to the throne, while his elder brother, Prince William, is the heir.

“It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror,” a statement from Random House says.

“As Diana, Princess of Wales, was laid to rest, billions wondered what the princes must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

For Harry, this is that story at last.”

What Will Prince Harry’s Memoir Spare Reveal?

Given the title of Spare, the upcoming memoir will be an intimate look at Prince Harry’s sometimes fraught relationship with Prince William, who as the future king played a more important role in both their family and ‘The Firm’ than Harry ever could.

There’s little doubt Prince Harry’s memoir will dive into why he and Meghan Markle — a.k.a. the Duchess of Sussex — chose to step back as senior royals and move to the United States.

If you had any doubt of what Spare will cover, you need only look at the countless snippets of the book circulating the internet. Simply put: Prince Harry does not hold back.

From accusations that Prince William and Kate Middleton encouraged him to wear that Nazi costume to a dress up party in 2005 to admitting he met with a medium to connect with his late mother Princess Diana, this unfiltered account of Prince Harry’s life is seemingly delivering everything we want and then some.

Spare will also touch on his decade in the armed forces, including Prince Harry providing his ‘death count’, along with addressing the feud rumours between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton.

Prince Harry is described by Random House as “a husband, father, humanitarian, military veteran, mental wellness advocate, and environmentalist”, who “resides in Santa Barbara, California, with his family and three dogs”.

Harry and Meghan share Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1.

When Will Prince Harry’s Memoir Spare Be Released?

Spare will be published simultaneously around the world, including Australia, on January 10.

In addition to being published in the UK, Ireland, New Zealand, India, South Africa and Canada, it will also be published in 16 languages. The audiobook will be read by Prince Harry himself.

Some proceeds of the book — guaranteed to be a best-seller — will be donated to two charities close to Prince Harry’s heart. He has donated $1,500,000 to Sentebale, an organisation he founded with Prince Seeiso in their mothers’ legacies, which supports children and young people in Lesotho and Botswana affected by HIV/AIDS.

He’s donated another £300,000 to WellChild, an organisation he has been a Royal patron of for 15 years which makes it possible for young children with complex health issues to be cared for at home, rather than at hospital.
