Kate Middleton And Prince William Reportedly Missed Harry’s Birthday Zoom Call With The Royal Family

A source claimed it was "awkward" the couple chose to skip the occasion

Last week, Prince Harry celebrated his 36th birthday and, while he may be separated from his family following the move to Los Angeles, the royal family still found a way to celebrate the occasion – via a video call with the birthday boy and wife Meghan Markle (along with a special appearance from 16-month old Baby Archie, too).

Per The MirrorPrince Charles organised a group Zoom call for his youngest son that included Queen Elizabeth, as well as Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. Harry’s older brother, Prince William, and his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, however, were noticeably absent from the virtual catchup.

“William sent his birthday best wishes,” a royal source told the outlet. “There was some excuse made about why he wasn’t there….It was a bit awkward that William and Kate weren’t there.”

On his birthday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were reportedly out attending royal engagements, and despite missing the call they did send Harry a sweet birthday message on Instagram.

“Wishing a very happy birthday to Prince Harry today! 🎂🎈”, the caption read alongside a photo of a 2017 running race the trio competed in.

Despite the couple’s absence, the group had “a great time”, the publication states.

“It was very pleasant. Harry told the family how much he missed them,” the source said. “Meghan baked a cake and Harry blew out candles. Archie made them laugh when he also blew them out.”

To mark the milestone, Harry and Meghan also made a generous donation to CAMFED, a non-profit organisation that works to eradicate African poverty through girls’ education and empowerment.

After spotting an online campaign raising money for the organisation, the pair decided to make a personal donation. Seeing that $129,000 had already been raised by the initiative, the couple added a further generous offering of $130,000.
