If you’re like us, you devoured the TV adaptation of Sally Rooney’s Normal People the minute it hit the screen. Now, we’ve been left frantically reading the Irish author’s debut novel, Conversations With Friends, ahead of its tv adaptation, with quick breaks to take a scroll through Connell’s Chain on Instagram. Basically, for the weeks ensuing its release we’ve been attempting to find some way to fill the Normal People sized void in our lives.
We’ve got some good news: Paul Mescal, aka Connell, has signed on to appear in Stan original thriller series The Deceived.
It’s described as having a “sinister narrative of lust, manipulation and betrayal.” It follows Ophelia (Emily Reid), an English student, who falls in love with her married lecturer (Emmett J. Scanlan). When their affair results in a shocking and tragic death, Ophelia finds herself trapped in a world where she can no longer trust her own mind.
Mescal will play Sean McKeough, a local builder who becomes Ophelia’s confidante.
Also signed on to the upcoming series: Catherine Walker plays Roisin, a successful, award-winning fiction writer; Little Women’s Eleanor Methven plays Roisin’s mother Mary Mulvery; Game of Thrones’ Ian McElhinney is Michael’s father Hugh fighting dementia.
