When it comes to nailing that effortlessly-put-together look, the oversized shirt might just be our MVP.
Whether you’re gearing up for a day in the office, or planning a weekend that consists of leisurely lunches and not much else, an oversized shirt is the ideal wardrobe component for just about every occasion.
Lightweight and layerable, this versatile separate can be thrown over a tank and linen shorts for beachside cocktails, or tucked into trousers and paired with high heels for instant elevation. Need we say more?

Where would we be without the oversized shirt? Given it works for most occasions, this handy staple should play a big role in your wardrobe (and if it doesn’t, it’s time to reconnect with this timeless piece). Oversized shirts look great but they’re tricky to tuck, so I’ll wear mine open with a ribbed tank underneath, so it doesn’t look too baggy.
I’ll very rarely wear heels and I’m happiest in jeans and a pair of ballet flats or Adidas gazelle sneakers. Also, I’ll add gold hardware to make a casual look feel a little more polished.

I’ve just purchased this pale blue oversized shirt by Dries Van Noten for Milan Fashion Week.
I love it because I can wear it tucked into or over jeans, and with or without a jacket. I’ll also wear it like an oversized jacket with a short skirt, leaving the bottom two buttons undone so that you see the black skirt underneath. It is the perfect solution for the hot humid weather that will be in Milan—it gives you that polished look without wearing a jacket.

I would style a pale blue oversized shirt with a pair of really good black trousers and belt, worn undone over a black knit tank. I love a tailored look with a sense of un-doneness. This is my favourite look for a weekend catch up with friends or running errands.
To dress it up for a work day I would button up the shirt and tuck into the pants. I love a barely there sandal or ballet flat for this look, depending on the occasion and weather. For jewellery I’m a gold girlie, so gold everyday hoops, simple bracelets and a couple of rings are my go to’s.
