The couple welcomed baby girl Mรฉi (pronounced May) โ€“ meaning โ€˜plumโ€™ in Chinese, via gestational surrogate.

โ€œMรฉi June Mulaney came into the world September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon,โ€ Munn wrote. Adding, โ€œI had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter. When I first met our gestational surrogate we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding, I knew I had found a real-life angel. Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for 9 months and made our dreams come trueโ€

The actress then followed up with a โ€œtimelineโ€ of her breast cancer journey and current remission status on September 4, 2024, in the hope that her own struggle would encourage others to seek help and be better informed about the realities of cancer.

โ€œJan 2022 2 mammograms, 2 ultrasounds: clear, Jan 2023 mammogram: clear, Feb 2023 genetic testing: 0% chance of genetic cancer, March 2023 Tyrer-Cuzik breast cancer assessment score: 37.3%,โ€ the timeline read, after adding that a follow-up biopsy in April 2023 resulted her bilateral breast cancer diagnosis.

Following her diagnosis, the actress underwent egg retrieval surgery in the hopes of being able to expand her and Johnโ€™s family in the future, as shared in an interview with Vogue. She had previously spoken out about freezing her eggs in her thirties.

The new dad of two also shared the family update to his own Instagram, joking that โ€œWe stole so much stuff from the hospital,โ€ before adding, โ€œI love my little girl so much.โ€
