Meryl Streep has made a rare public appearance with all four of her adult children in tow.
While the clan don’t often appear together in public, Streep’s brood rallied around the actress on the red carpet at the Academy Museum Gala, where she was honoured with the Icon Award.
The outing comes just two months after news broke that Streep and husband Don Gummer had separated after 45 years of marriage. So, in Gummer’s absence, Streep, 74, was joined by the former couple’s four children: Henry, 44, Mamie, 40, Grace, 37, and Louisa, 32, as well as Henry’s wife Tamryn Gummer and Grace’s husband Mark Ronson.
Streep and her three daughters donned black for the evening. Mamie opted for a black Bevza dress featuring dainty cut-outs and spaghetti straps, while Grace and Meryl wore sleek long-sleeve dresses. Louisa was slightly more glam in a simple black silhouette with delicate silver embroidery.
In honour of the cute family photo-op, below, everything we know about Meryl Streep’s four children.
Who Are Meryl Streep’s Children?
Perhaps unsurprising considering their mother is a three-time Academy Award winner, all of Meryl Streep’s children have jobs in the entertainment industry. Her three look-a-like daughters have all forged successful acting careers, with roles across film, television, and theatre.
Mamie Gummer
Mamie, Streep’s eldest daughter, began acting when she was just three years old, appearing in her mother’s film Heartburn. Since then, she’s gone on to play the titular role in the series Emily Owens, M.D., as well as the recurring role of Nancy Crozier on The Good Wife and its spin-off, The Good Fight.
Grace Gummer
Grace had a similar start in the industry, playing a younger version of Streep’s character in the movie House of Spirits in 1993, when she was seven. Her most notable work since then has been a role in the Broadway revival of Arcadia, for which she received a Theatre World Award, and recurring roles in The Newsroom and American Horror Story: Freak Show.
Louisa Jacobson Gummer
Louisa’s acting career came slightly later in life than her two older sisters, getting her start in theatre, before making her on-screen debut in the 2019 TV movie Gone Hollywood. She now stars in The Gilded Age.
Henry Wolfe Gummer
Henry has also pursued a creative career, working as a singer-songwriter. While he keeps a relatively low profile, his work can be heard on soundtracks for two of his mother’s movies, Julie & Julia and Ricki and the Flash.
How Are Meryl Streep And Mark Ronson Connected?
At the 2024 Grammy Awards, many were surprised to see Meryl Streep sitting with music producers, Mark Ronson.
However, Grammy host Trevor Noah, made the time to reveal the pair’s family connection during his opening monologue.
“Look at this, Mark Ronson, one of the greatest producers of all time,” Noah said. “Get this, his mother-in-law is going to be sitting right here. You know who she is? Meryl Streep, that’s right. She’s going to be in this chair. I can’t believe that Meryl Streep is here.”
A few moments later, Meryl Streep appeared and took her chair, to which Noah joked, “You thought I was lying!”
Ronson has been married to Streep’s second-eldest daughter, Grace Gummer for over two years. The couple welcomed their first daughter, Ruthie, in 2023.
Does Meryl Streep Have Grandchildren?
In addition to her four adult children, Streep is also grandparent to four grandchildren.
Henry and his wife Tamnryn have one daughter, Ida june Gummer, who was born in July 2020, and a son Quinn, who joined the family in late 2022.
Mamie also has a son, who she shares with husband Mehar Sethi. The pair welcomed their baby boy in February 2019, just six months after they became engaged.
