Reports have confirmed that One Direction member, Liam Payne has died outside a Buenos Aires hotel on Wednesday local time.
Emergency services reportedly found the body of the 31-year-old singer, following a fall from the hotel’s third floor.
Local newspapers Clarin and La Nacion reported that authorities were called to the hotel in response to an emergency noting “an aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol.”
Ambulance workers have since confirmed the death of the singer, whose body was recovered from an internal courtyard in the Casa Sur Hotel.
Head of the Buenos Aires’ public emergency medical services, Alberto Crescenti, revealed that the injuries Payne sustained from the fall were “incompatible with life.”
Adding: “At 17:04, through 911, the integrated public security system, we were alerted about a person who was in an internal courtyard of the Casa Sur hotel. At 17:11, a team arrived and confirmed the man’s death.”
“We later learned that he was a singer in a musical group. Unfortunately, he had injuries incompatible with life as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death. There was no possibility of resuscitation.”
Who Was Liam Payne?
The British singer was born in Wolverhapton, and shot to fame as part of the global boyband group, One Direction.
Famously formed on the British talent show X-Factor, the boys went on to garner huge amounts of success from 2010-2016 when the band members decided to pursue separate careers. At the time of publishing, One Direction brand members Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan have not responded publicly to the news.
Payne was father to a seven-year-old son, Bear, from his relationship with singer Cheryl Cole. He also reportedly dated supermodel Naomi Campbell.
