Kristin Cavallari shot to fame in the early 2000’s as a cast member on the popular MTV series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. The show was an absolute hit, leading to the spin off series The Hills, which ran from 2006 to 2010.
It was an early taste of dramatized reality TV, and Cavallari became so popular she was later given her own E! reality series. In 2017, Cavallari founded her own company Uncommon James, which sells jewellery, homeware, skincare and beauty products.
In 2013, the star married Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, and together they have three children. However, in 2020 the pair divorced, with Cavallari settling in Franklin, Tennessee so the families could remain close by.
We sat down with the television personality, designer and author to talk through all the things she loves the most.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?
Bikram yoga, but it was before hot yoga was a cool thing. My job was to wash the sweaty towels after class. It was disgusting. I didn’t even get paid, butI did it for the free classes.
WHO WAS YOUR TEENAGE CRUSH?
Devon Sawa from the Casper movie. I had his posters all over my bedroom wall.
FAVOURITE LOOK YOU’VE WORN?
A simple white Alexander McQueen gown I wore when I was pregnant with my first son, Camden. I was on the red carpet for E! network and it was the first time I had hosted a big awards show.
LAST BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY?
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I cried and cried.
WHAT SIDE OF TIKTOK ARE YOU ON?
Conspiracy-theory Tok. I don’t trust anything anymore.
BEST PIECE OF BUSINESS ADVICE YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED?
The jewellery designer Jennifer Fisher said in an interview that when you start a business, if you can do it by yourself and not take on any outside funding, that is the way to do it. That’s always stuck with me. To be an owner and still have total control of your company is the way to do it, if you can do it. I’m really happy that I have followed that advice with my own business, Uncommon James.

Dua Lipa.
WHO WAS YOUR CHILDHOOD HERO?
In middle school it was Britney Spears.

Even though he [former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler] is my ex- husband, creating three children with him was an incredible gift. While I’m no longer in love with him, the best thing that we could have done together was create our three children.
WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT PHONE LOCK SCREEN?
My kids sleeping.
MOST SPONTANEOUS DECISION?
When I was 24, on a whim I went to Greece. The problem with my life now is that I have too much responsibility.I have three kids, so I can’t do anything spontaneous anymore.
FAVOURITE THING ABOUT HOSTING A PODCAST?
Having the freedom to be able to talk about whatever I want. I’m excited for people to get to hear my voice because people think they know me from reality TV, but they’re going to be surprised. I’m in a good place in my life now where I’m excited to really open up and let people in.
WHAT OUTFIT MAKES YOU FEEL THE MOST “YOU”?
Jeans, a great pair of shoes and a basic crop top or body suit. A fun accessory like a cute hat also goes a long way.
A LESSON YOU WISH YOU HAD LEARNT SOONER?
To be present. I spent a large part of my life wanting to be older and be in the next phase. I wish when I was 18 I just enjoyed being 18 and I didn’t worry so much about the future.
WHAT IS YOUR COMFORT TV SHOW?
Surprisingly, I don’t watch that much TV. But I do love Succession, Euphoria and right now I’m watching The Summer I Turned Pretty.
TOPIC YOU WANT PEOPLE TO TALK MORE ABOUT?
Dating. We’re all either in it or we have been in it and I think it offers up a lot of comedy as well. I’m excited to talk to men to tell us what they’re really thinking and feeling.
BIGGEST DATING RED FLAG?
When a man takes zero accountability. If someone is bashing all of their exes, it’s a deal breaker for me.
