Life is hard when you’re a five-time Academy Award-winning 87-year-old Hollywood actor. Over the weekend, Morgan Freeman stepped out to dinner in Los Angeles at local Italian eatery Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica.
The actor seemed relaxed in a loose button-up shirt, dark slacks, and baseball cap, but people were distinctly not relaxed. His appearance caused an internet furore with people asking: Is Morgan Freeman alive?
Why Are People Asking ‘Is Morgan Freeman Alive?’

You would think Freeman’s excursion to get spaghetti would be evidence enough to assure the internet he’s alive and well. But, when we see an older celebrity’s name trending on X we tend to assume one thing, and that’s just what happened in this instance.
The actor was wearing an unusual-looking compression glove when his name started trending on X. But, thankfully, users were just being dramatic, and the actor is, by all reports, totally fine. Thank you, social media.
I checked on Google and it says Morgan Freeman didn’t die. I saw this on my FB feed that he died but he is still alive 😑.

Why Is Morgan Freeman Wearing A Compression Bandage?
The original X-chat started over the unusual glove Freeman was wearing on his right hand. Some people even asked “Is Morgan Freeman missing a hand?”
Again, he is not. The Academy Award winner wears a compression glove thanks to nerve damage he received in a 2008 car accident. “It’s the fibromyalgia,” he told Esquire in July 2012. “Up and down the arm. That’s where it gets so bad. Excruciating.”
Is Morgan Freeman Okay?
While he’s 87, Freeman seems to be thriving. He’s appeared in two movies in 2024 including My Dead Friend Zoe and Gunner and will appear next year in Now You See Me 3. He recently posted himself hanging with fellow dad-beloved Hollywood oldie Clint Eastwood (97) who has directed him multiple times in Unforgiven (1992), Million Dollar Baby (2004) and Invictus (2009).
This isn’t the first time X has failed to predict Morgan Freeman’s death. In 2012 a then Twitter user @originalcjizzle went viral on the platform when he posted: RT@CNN: Breaking News: actor Morgan Freeman has passed away in his Burbank home<< wow legendary actor #RIPmorganfreeman
CNN were forced to deny responsibility for the rumour and the Tweet was removed. It’s unclear whether there was similar pranking taking place in this instance but it does show that the X rumour mill is just as wild, 12 years later.
We hope Freeman enjoyed his dinner.
