Hilary Duff’s clan has grown with the birth of her fourth child.
The newest addition to the family, a little girl called Townes Meadow Bair, was born via water birth.
The actress shared the news to Instagram with a series of photos of the herself holding the new baby in the birth pool, along with a sweet caption reading, “Townes Meadow Bair, now we know why she made us wait so long…she was perfecting those cheeks!
“I have been dreaming of holding you in my arms for months and the past five days of getting to know you, stare at you and smell you has been pure moments of magic. We all love you like you’ve been here all along beauty.”
The actress and singer shared the news of her fourth pregnancy to Instagram, with a festive photo of her family, and the words, “So much for silent nights.”
In a second image, Hilary shared a collage of her three children, alongside a cute message: “Buckle up buttercups, we’re adding one more to this crazy bunch!”

Is Hilary Duff Married?
Hilary has been married to songwriter and music producer Matthew Koma since December 2019. The pair actually met through work, having collaborated on her 2015 album, Breathe In. Breathe Out, however they didn’t publicly confirm their relationship until 2017.
Shortly after they made their public debut, the couple briefly split, citing their busy schedules as to blame. But by October 2017, they had rekindled their romance, with Matt making an appearance at Hilary’s 30th birthday party.
Later that year, Hilary actually revealed that the couple had broken off and patched up their relationship three times, telling The Talk, “Timing is such a big deal… third time’s a charm!”
Before Matt, Hilary was married to NHL player Mike Comrie from 2010 until 2016. Despite no longer being together, the exes remain amicable, often photographed together co-parenting their son, Luca.
How Many Children Does Hilary Duff Have?
Hilary is mum to four children: Luca, 11, Banks, 5, May, 2 and baby Townes.
She welcomed Luca with then-husband Mike on March 20, 2012, when she was just 24.
Since then, she has been vocal about the challenges of being a young parent, telling the Motherly Podcast that the experience was “isolating.”
“I did feel like after I had him, I lost a big chunk of my identity for maybe the first year and a half. I did spin it as a positive thing because sitting in it when it was happening maybe I was a little sad about it and I didn’t feel like I had anyone to go through the experience with, but then I came out on the other side. I’m like, I’m a freaking super woman and I can do anything and I have confidence for days.”
She has also been candid about co-parenting with Mike, telling People she is proud of the way they are raising Luca.
We are a unit and we’re going to be a unit for the rest of our lives. We realised [as a couple] we weren’t where we used to be. But I feel so lucky this happened when Luca was young because this is his normal now.”
On October 25, 2018, one year before they were married, Hilary and Matt welcomed their first child together, daughter Banks Violet.
Hilary announced the birth on Instagram, writing, “Banks Violet Bair❤️ this little bit has fully stolen our hearts! She joined our world at home on Thursday afternoon and is absolute magic.”
She later told Pure Wow how well Luca was adjusting to his new sibling, saying, “It’s the best.”
She added,”It’s a chemical reaction between siblings sometimes where he knows he has to protect her. He doesn’t want her to ever fall off the couch.”
Fast forward to March 24, 2021, and Hilary and Matt welcomed their second daughter, Mae James.
They announced the news with a photo of Banks shared to Instagram, with the caption, “I’m a big sister … marinating on how I feel about that!”
The following day, they shared the name of the new arrival alongside a picture from Hilary’s at-home water birth. “Mae James Bair – We LOVE you beauty 3-24-21,” she wrote.
What Has Hilary Duff Said About Her Fourth Baby?
Aside from her sweet Instagram post, she’s yet to speak publicly about the excitement of adding a fourth baby to the mix.
In May 2023, Hilary told the Lipstick On The Rim podcast that she’s “obsessed” with her children.
“I truly enjoy watching them grow and being there with them,” she said.
“I always get a little bummed out when I finish a [work] project and someone is like, ‘What’s next?’ What’s next is I’m going to go be a part of my family. I want to be packing all the bags and the lunches. It’s super important to me.”
The following month, she told Shape, “I’m in my family-making phase. I built this and I wanted this and so I have to be here to enjoy the joyful and the painful and everything in between.”
