A Texas woman allegedly shot her boyfriend while he was sleeping on August 16 and dismembered his body inside their home.
According to police, 30-year-old Cierra Sutton has been charged with the murder of 32 -year-old Steven Coleman, ABC7 reports.
Court documents allege Sutton fatally shot Coleman after an argument and that she dismembered his body with a machete at their apartment in Houston. She then allegedly left his remains in various dumpsters.
According to the New York Post, a torso was found in landfill four days after Coleman was reported missing, although police are still waiting for DNA confirmation of a match.
“We don’t know definitely if it is our guy yet,” Baytown police Lt. Steve Dorris said. “But it is safe to say it is our suspicion.”
Coleman filed a missing persons report on August 18, two days after her partner is believed to have died.
Her friend, Dominique Clark, spoke out about the horrific turn of events in an interview with Eyewitness News.
“Devil. That’s the mind of a bad spirit,” Clark said. “That’s not a normal mind. That’s not a mind of God. That’s not one of God’s children.”
Clark explained that the accused had been staying with Colemans’s family while they searched for him.
“She played the role of an innocent person,” Clark said. “She played the role of an innocent person, and she played it to the fullest.”
The investigation continues.
